Students from various music ensembles at North Central will present “Explore the Sound IV,” a theatrically staged and lit musical event at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Wentz Concert Hall at the Fine Arts Center. Black History

In observance of Black History Month, North Central welcomes two speakers to campus.

Marc Lamont Hill — author, cultural critic, media commentator and professor — will give a free talk at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Smith Hall at Old Main.  His talk is titled “Building Community in an Hour of Chaos: Progress in the Age of Obama.”

Isabel Wilkerson - Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and bestselling author - will give a free talk at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the theatre in Meiley-Swallow Hall. She will discuss her bestselling book “The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America’s Great Migration.”

North Central will host the 12th annual Self Employment in the Arts Conference starting at 1 p.m. Feb. 24 and ending at 4 p.m. Feb. 25 at the Hilton Lisle/Naperville Hotel, 3003 Corporate West Drive, Lisle. The conference is for anyone aspiring to be a self-employed artist. North Central seniors Tamatha Francis, Samantha Rapp and Kathleen Pauley will have their art exhibit, “Nuances of Texture,” on display starting Friday through March 28 in the Oesterle Library Gallery.
